Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy provides one to one interactions to manage and cope with issues a person may be facing or concerned with. Individual therapy may be the focus or may be part of a larger treatment plan.

Our focus for Individual therapy is to allow a client to learn skills to cope with and resolve presenting issues. We work to establish a nurturing process to help put the client back in charge of their lives.

Our adult groups are highly valued including successes in our county that people have transferred to us and had not been receiving the high standard of care that we provide. Our agency is able to help clients in unique and creative ways.

Group Therapy

We have the following group therapy options
for clients facing a wide variety of issues.

Anger Management Groups

Anger is a feeling that can range from mild irritation to intense fury and rage.  When it is felt too often or too intensely it can place an unhealthy physical strain on the body and the immune system.  Anger can also lead to aggressive acts towards people and property which can ruin personal relationships and be very costly.  It is important for people to take responsibility for their behavior and learn to manage their anger. These groups focus on empowering people to not be captive to their own anger and to work through difficulties in healthy and positive ways.

Anger Management: Men’s Focus Group

The main goal of the Men’s Anger Management Group is for the members to learn to control their behavior and calm themselves when angry through focusing on themselves rather than the other person or situation.  We use the Franklin Reality Model to help members develop an understanding of how ineffective and destructive their aggressive actions are, and possibly learn to avoid getting angry in the first place. The group lasts 12 weeks and the members are required to complete 6 homework assignments and present them to the group.

Anger Management: Women's Focus Group

Women take on stress and trauma differently, with the Women's Focus Group trained therapists help women to support each other through shared experiences and to focus on different ways to effectively express their anger. The main purpose of the group is to recognize that their angry and aggressive behaviors may have short-term benefits but the long-term result is destructive to themselves and others. Similar to the men’s group, we focus on the Franklin Reality Model to help members recognize their ineffective angry behaviors and learn the skills to control themselves when they are upset. In addition, the group takes a feministic and cognitive behavioral perspective, and encourages women to look at their unique experience of anger, what has contributed to it, and teaches them safe and healthy ways of coping and expressing their anger. It is a 12 week group and the members are required to complete 6 homework assignments and present them to the group.

Grief Group

Dealing with the loss of a loved one, family member, or friend can be very difficult and overwhelming to many individuals. Seeking assistance during this time and focusing on a healing process is vital for many individuals. The focus of the Grief Group is support, education and having a place to be able to share with others going through similar difficult life events. This Group makes numerous resources available to clients to improve and maintain a client’s wellbeing.

Art Therapy Group

Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy and visual expression to work through many issues a client may be facing. Art therapy combines traditional psychotherapeutic theories and techniques with an understanding of the psychological aspects of the creative process, especially the affective properties of the different art materials.

Sewing Support Group

This group is similar to art therapy group. Sewing is used to create a comfortable environment to build trust and foster relationship development and support in a relaxed and safe environment.

DBT Group Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy or DBT Group is a comprehensive, long-term, evidence-based treatment for people with a complex array of problems, such as suicide/self-harm, emotion dysregulation (roller coaster emotions), unstable relationships, and frequent crises.

This Group has been approved by the state as a recognized program for having effective outcomes. This group has high results and extremely positive success for even the most highly troubled individuals.

This program is a yearlong group that is very structured and is evidence based. Many individuals choose to continue to participate in this group beyond a year because they continue to gain so much from this program.
